Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician

Location: Long Beach, CA 90805
Duration: 14 Weeks
Employment Type: Contract


Work Schedule

  • 2nd Shift (Evening): 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM


Compensation

  • Local Candidates:$1,000 – $1,100 per week

  • Traveler Candidates:$1,000 – $1,200 per week


Job Summary

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment. This role ensures strict adherence to industry standards and infection control protocols to support safe and effective patient care.


Key Responsibilities

  • Follow ANSI/AAMI standards, manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs), SOPs, and internal work instructions

  • Decontaminate used surgical instruments and equipment using appropriate PPE and procedures

  • Disassemble, clean, and reassemble complex surgical instruments

  • Assemble and package instrument trays and sets accurately according to guidelines

  • Operate washers, sterilizers, and related processing equipment safely and efficiently

  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage prior to sterilization

  • Document and report missing or damaged instruments per established procedures


Requirements

Certifications:

  • CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) or

  • CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) required

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on sterile processing experience

  • Proven experience in decontamination, assembly, and sterilization processes


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols

  • Knowledge of sterile processing standards and infection control practices

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
