Forklift Operator | Structural Steel Fabrication | Arizona
This is not the kind of forklift role where you’re moving pallets in a warehouse all day.
We’re looking for an experienced Forklift Operator who knows how to safely handle heavy, oversized structural steel in a fast-paced fabrication environment. Beams. Plate. Fabricated assemblies. Awkward loads that demand real awareness, precision, and respect for the equipment.
If you’ve worked around steel fabrication, understand load balance instinctively, and know when speed matters and when slowing down matters more, this could be a strong fit.
Why Work With Us
- Full-time opportunity with steady, long-term work
- Work alongside experienced fabrication and welding teams
- High-output structural steel environment where teamwork matters
- Safety-focused culture with strong operational standards
- Opportunity to work on large commercial and industrial fabrication projects
- Company that values reliability, accountability, and people who take pride in doing things right
What You’ll Be Doing
- Operate sit-down and telehandler forklifts throughout the fabrication shop and yard
- Move, stage, and load structural steel materials including beams, HSS tube, plate steel, angle iron, and fabricated assemblies
- Safely handle oversized and off-balance loads in tight production environments
- Load and unload flatbed trucks, including proper securement and staging procedures
- Read material tags, cut lists, and shop drawings to ensure accurate material flow
- Support fabricators, fitters, and welding crews by staging steel components efficiently
- Maintain organized shop and yard conditions to support active production schedules
- Conduct pre-shift equipment inspections and report safety or maintenance concerns immediately
- Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and designated travel paths
- Maintain strong situational awareness around cranes, pedestrians, equipment, and active fabrication operations
What You Bring
- 3-5+ years of forklift experience in steel fabrication, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments
- Experience handling structural steel and oversized materials
- Strong understanding of load balance, weight distribution, and safe material handling practices
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in fast-paced production environments
- Reliable, team-oriented mindset with strong attention to safety
- Experience operating telehandlers or rough terrain forklifts preferred
- Ability to read basic shop drawings and material lists preferred
- OSHA 10 certification is a plus
Physical & Work Environment
- Structural steel fabrication shop and outdoor yard environment
- Exposure to heavy equipment, overhead crane activity, industrial noise, and changing weather conditions
- Ability to work on your feet and operate equipment for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
- PPE required in designated work areas
This role is built for someone who understands that good forklift operators keep production moving, protect the people around them, and prevent problems before they happen. In a steel shop, that awareness matters every single day.
