Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teaches STEAM to all students in grades Begindergarten (BK) through 4th grade, using district-adopted curriculum and aligned to Michigan standards.
  • Participates in professional development and maintains appropriate certification and qualifications.
  • Designs and delivers engaging STEAM lessons that integrate science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.
  • Collaborates daily with general education teachers to support and integrate science instruction across the curriculum, including co-planning and aligning with Amplify Science units.
  • Encourages inquiry, creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on learning experiences that foster innovation and critical thinking.
  • Integrates current educational technologies and tools to enhance instruction and student learning.
  • Creates a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learners and promotes curiosity.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain high standards of classroom behavior; proactively teaches appropriate behavior and expectations.
  • Differentiates instruction to meet the varied needs and learning styles of all students.
  • Assesses and monitors student progress through formative and summative assessments; maintains accurate records and communicates progress with families and staff.
  • Participates in school improvement initiatives and contributes to a collaborative, student-centered school culture.
  • Maintains regular, predictable in-person attendance and models' professionalism.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a Bachelor's or higher degree.
  • Valid Michigan Teacher Certification.
  • Science (DI) endorsement preferred.
  • Experience with successful instruction with Amplify Science curriculum is highly desirable.
