Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is the premier grassroots organization focused on advocating solutions to the country’s greatest challenges. We recognize that tens of millions of Americans are frustrated with the extreme partisanship in government that keeps common-sense reforms from being passed, and instead seek to stand with policy leaders who are committed to finding a better way.

Americans for Prosperity is part of the Stand Together philanthropic community.

The Arkansas State Director is the senior leader responsible for driving statewide public policy strategy, grassroots organizing, government affairs, and coalition engagement. This role serves as the primary spokesperson and strategic leader for AFP-Arkansas, overseeing a high-performing team and advancing policy outcomes at the local, state, and federal levels.

You will partner closely with legislators, donors, activists, coalition partners, and national stakeholders to execute impactful campaigns and achieve measurable policy wins.

How You Will Contribute:

  • Lead Statewide Strategy: Develop and execute a data-driven, long-term strategic plan to advance priority public policy initiatives and grassroots campaigns across Arkansas
  • Government Affairs & Policy Advocacy: Build and drive a legislative agenda, engaging with the Governor, state legislature, and federal delegation to influence policy outcomes
  • Team Leadership: Hire, develop, and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and results-driven performance
  • Grassroots & Volunteer Mobilization: Recruit, develop, and activate grassroots volunteers, activists, and community leaders to support advocacy campaigns and policy reform
  • Coalition & Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strategic relationships with business leaders, policymakers, media, and nonprofit partners to expand influence and impact
  • Public Relations & Communications: Serve as the lead spokesperson, delivering consistent messaging through media, events, and public forums
  • Fundraising & Donor Development: Cultivate and steward donor relationships and philanthropic partnerships to support sustainable state operations
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with national teams and other state chapters on multi-state initiatives, policy campaigns, and strategic priorities

What You Will Bring:

  • Proven experience in public policy, government affairs, political campaigns, or advocacy leadership
  • Track record of building and managing high-level relationships (elected officials, donors, or influencers)
  • Strong leadership and people management experience
  • Exceptional communication skills (public speaking, media, and executive-level writing)
  • Demonstrated success in coalition building, stakeholder engagement, and grassroots organizing
  • Ability to develop strategy, solve complex problems, and execute in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with high integrity, humility, and accountability
  • Commitment to free markets, economic freedom, and policy solutions that expand opportunity
  • Enthusiasm to contribute to Stand Together's vision and principled approach to solving problems, and a commitment to stewarding our culture, which champions values including transformation and innovation, entrepreneurialism, humility, and respect.

Standout Candidates Will Bring:

  • Direct experience in state or federal legislative policy, lobbying, or government relations
  • Background in fundraising, donor development, or nonprofit leadership

What We Offer:

  • Competitive benefits: Enjoy a 6% 401(k) match with immediate vesting, flexible time off, comprehensive health and dental plans, plus wellness and mental health support through Peloton and Talkspace.
  • A meaningful career: Join a passionate community of over 1,300 employees dedicated to improving lives and driving innovative solutions to complex social challenges.
  • Commitment to growth: Thrive in a non-hierarchical environment that empowers employees to discover, develop and apply their unique talents.
  • Competitive compensation: Our approach rewards the value you create through competitive salaries and bonus opportunities, allowing you to share in the success you help drive.
Our Values: Working for an organization within the Stand Together philanthropic community is different from many other places. The culture is deeply rooted in Principle Based Management® (PBM®), a framework guided by the principles that drive human progress, such as dignity, openness, and bottom-up empowerment. PBM® empowers employees to be entrepreneurial, to innovate, and to continually drive transformation.

We believe diversity fuels creativity, broadens knowledge, and helps drive success.  That is why we’re proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and strive to treat all employees and applicants with honesty, dignity, and respect.
We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans.
