Job Summary
We are seeking a Staining Software Engineer Associate to join our diagnostic software development team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with assay development scientists and cross-functional engineering teams to develop, optimize, and maintain software solutions that support automated staining procedures used in diagnostic instruments. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career software engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges in a regulated healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain software solutions supporting diagnostic staining applications.
- Create and update software packages used to install staining procedures.
- Manage and maintain database elements required to support staining workflows.
- Collaborate with assay development scientists, software engineers, QA, and other cross-functional teams.
- Perform software testing, debugging, verification, and validation to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Support software deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement activities.
- Ensure all development activities comply with medical device software standards and quality processes.
- Document software designs, testing results, and technical changes.
- Prioritize multiple assignments while delivering projects on schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or another Engineering discipline.
- Candidates with a Biology, Chemistry, or Life Sciences background and strong programming skills will also be considered.
- 0 5 years of software development experience.
- Experience with one or more programming languages such as C#, C++, Java, or Python.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming and software development best practices.
- Experience working with relational databases (SQL, SQL Server, SQLite, PostgreSQL, etc.).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing software for medical devices, diagnostics, laboratory automation, or healthcare applications.
- Familiarity with regulated software development environments (FDA, IEC 62304, ISO 13485, or similar).
- Experience with software testing, verification, and validation.
- Exposure to laboratory instrumentation, assay development, or scientific software is a plus.
