Job Summary
JOB SUMMARY:
The Stage Technician position is primarily responsible in assisting all aspects of technical theatre for the Weinberg Center including but not limited to stage lighting, audio, and rigging. Responsibilities include acting as technical consultant for users of the Center; inspection, repair, replacement, and inventory of all technical production equipment under supervision of Technical Manager; assisting with load-in, set-up, and load-out of all performances. Additional duties include minor facility maintenance; inventory and refurbishment of technical supplies; and attending select rehearsals, performances, and functions of the Center. This is a part-time position reporting to the Technical Manager.

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to move about the stage area to set up and tear down stage equipment. The incumbent is regularly required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and sometimes perform work in dark and confined spaces. The incumbent is required to communicate effectively using the English language and to distinguish audible communication. The incumbent frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The incumbent must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The incumbent must be able to maintain productive work level for long periods of time.

The physical environment requires the incumbent to work regularly in high, precarious places which may include, confined spaces and open work environment (no walls or doors). The environment may regularly include dust and/or airborne particles and be void of natural lighting. While performing the duties of the job, the incumbent is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee regularly works in historic buildings with stairs and no elevators.
