Position Summary:

Position Summary:

The Enterostomal Therapist (ET), also known as a Wound and Ostomy Nurse, is a registered nurse who provides assessment, treatment, and management of patients with wounds, ostomies, and skin disorders. This role provides expert clinical care, patient and staff education, and consultation services to improve patient outcomes and promote evidence-based practices across the hospital.

Unit/Dept Specific Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with acute and chronic wounds, ostomies, and skin issues
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans
  • Provide direct patient care including wound assessment, dressing selection, and ostomy management
  • Educate patients and families on self-care, prevention strategies, and post-discharge management
  • Serve as a clinical resource and consultant to nursing staff, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Lead and support evidence-based practices in wound, ostomy, and skin care
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and policy development
  • Assist with product evaluation and formulary decisions related to wound and ostomy care supplies
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
  • Provide staff education, in-services, and competency training
  • Stay current with advances in wound, ostomy, and skin care practices

Position Qualification:

Bachelors degree (BSN) or ASN

Current Registered Nurse licensure in Tennessee
