    Staff Engineer 

    The Role 

    As a member of the technical leadership team, you will work with teams that compose and develop solutions. Your role includes championing innovation, driving standardization, and delivering modern technology patterns across the stack for our customers.  This is a fast-paced technology group that adopts new technologies with focus on building innovative and cloud-native experiences, capabilities, and platforms in support of millions of customers who are seeking products that provide guaranteed income and/or protection. This role operates at the intersection of engineering, product, and design – driving technical strategy, elevating engineering standards, and ensuring seamless, performant and personalized user experiences. We are an emerging group in Fidelity with strong strategic financial backing. 

    The Skills and Expertise You Bring 

    • Deep understanding of life insurance digital ecosystems, including underwriting, compliance, and member facing experiences design across web and mobile channels. 
    • 10 years of hands-on experience as a full-stack engineer and/or solution architect. 
    • Experience leading the Lifecycle of multiple concurrent solutions through strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, engaging with multiple functions, business analysis, architecture definition, POC creation, presentation skills, influential ability, and an ability to make progress despite ambiguity. 
    • Proven experience in engineering large-scale web applications end-to-end, with a focus on customer experience, operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, and improving cost efficiency.  
    • Experience in designing, implementing, or maintaining systems that support Term Life Insurance operations such as policy administration, underwriting and claims processing is a plus. 
    • Proficient in Cloud Architecture, Services, and Patterns. Hands-on experience with Core AWS services is a must-have, e.g. Amazon VPC, DNS, ELB, CloudFront, API Gateway, IAM, EKS, Lambda, Step Functions, SQS, S3, RDS Oracle/PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Secrets Manager, CloudFormation/Terraform, Event-Driven Architecture, Resiliency, etc.  
    • Proven expertise in Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Angular, Spring, NodeJS/NestJS and microservices architecture with REST, Spring frameworks (or similar) are a must. 
    • Experience in DevSecOps, CI/CD automation (Jenkins Core and GitOps or equivalent experience preferred), and container orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS).  
    • Experience with event-driven and serverless architectures, API design, and integration patterns. 
    • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts is advantageous. 
    • Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams. 
    • Agile development experience and a passion for continuous learning and innovation.

    This Delivery team is part of Fidelity Insurance Group; focused on empowering customers and associates to thrive in a digital-first world through the creation of scalable business capabilities and platforms that support and power much of our Brokerage, Wealth and Workplace businesses. 

    Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
    Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
