Position Overview

A leading engineering,procurement, and construction (EPC) firm is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer with high voltage substation design experience to serve as a single-discipline lead on electrical substation projects for utility clients. This role supports full project lifecycle delivery from engineering through EPC, covering projects up to 765kV. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Function as Technical Specialist or Project Lead, providing coordination, guidance, and expertise on assigned substation projects
  • Support detailed engineering design and EPC on substation projects ranging up to 765kV
  • Develop protection and control design deliverables: protective relays, panel arrangements, one-line/three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, relay panel wiring, and equipment wiring for HV substations
  • Develop physical design deliverables: yard layout plans, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, and auxiliary AC/DC power systems
  • Perform and oversee quality review of electrical substation design packages
  • Prepare electrical equipment specifications and Bills of Materials (BOM)
  • Manage design budgets and schedules
  • Coordinate and communicate with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders
  • Present proposals, designs, and project updates
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members
  • Support business development and pursuit activities
  • Travel as needed to client/vendor offices and project sites for design reviews, construction coordination, and field verification
