Staff Civil Designer

Civil Designer Transportation (Contract-to-Hire)
Location: Dallas, TX

We are seeking an experienced Transportation Civil Designer to support multidisciplinary engineering teams on infrastructure and electrical projects. This role is responsible for producing high-quality design and drafting deliverables, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to client and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, produce, and modify detailed design drawings and construction documents using OpenRoads Designer (ORD), OpenBridge Designer (OBM), and Civil 3D
• Interpret engineering sketches, markups, and design concepts to independently create complete and accurate drawing packages
• Prepare and revise plan sets, profiles, details, and plot drawings for design submittals and construction documentation
• Apply and enforce CAD standards to ensure consistency and quality across all deliverables
• Coordinate with engineers and multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical systems into civil designs
• Maintain and utilize CAD standards, templates, and detail libraries to improve production efficiency
• Identify design conflicts and propose practical, technically sound solutions
• Perform quality control reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements
• Incorporate redlines, field markups, and update as-built documentation
• Support continuous improvement of CAD workflows, standards, and best practices
• Manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members as needed
• Collaborate across project teams and support additional responsibilities as assigned
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and project requirements

Qualifications

• One of the following is required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Drafting Technology or related field + 7 years of experience
  • Associate degree + 8 years of experience
  • 9+ years of progressive detailing and design experience
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Excel
• Strong experience with OpenRoads Designer (ORD) and OpenBridge Designer (OBM)
• Expert understanding of civil design principles, calculations, and systems
• Solid knowledge of multidisciplinary coordination, including electrical integration
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with engineers, project managers, and designers
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality
