Regular Full Time Status: Exempt / SALARY Reports to: Familias Unidas Director

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (This is not an exhaustive list of all duties/responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned)

  • Provide legal assistance to community members through:

  • direct representation

  • individual consultations

  • self-help assistance in the form of community workshops and legal clinics

  • conduct naturalization preparation classes.

  • facilitate community education and advocacy.

  • Focus on providing legal representation in various matters, but focusing on:

  • family-based petitions

  • deferred action petitions

  • naturalization

  • humanitarian visas

  • removal defense

  • Represent clients before the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) and the National Visa Center (NVC), and other governmental agencies.

  • Conduct presentations, workshops, legal clinics, and individual legal consultations in Spanish and English

  • Assist in the research and writing of grants for the program.

  • Plan and organize annual community events (i.e. Gala)

  • Travel across the state of Idaho to provide services and outreach.

  • Speak for CC Idaho in front of lawmakers and other stakeholders, in matters related to immigration law and policy, when requested to do so by the Chief Executive Officer

  • Work with community partners across Idaho in conducting outreach and community education.

  • Assist in the supervision and training of Department of Justice (DOJ) accredited representative(s)

  • Work closely with other immigration program staff members

  • Manage and maintain blog, social media, and other posts for F.U.I.L.S.

  • Maintain records required for case and grant management Maintain standards of confidentiality of CC Idaho clients and records.

  • Ability to multi-task, manage time, meet deadlines, and remain calm and professional under pressure and stressful conditions.

  • Perform all work duties and activities in accordance with

  • CC Idaho policies, procedures, and safety practices

  • Ensure compliance with CC Idaho, local, state, federal, and other applicable regulations, and standards.

Required

  • Law Degree for American Bar Association accredited law school; will consider applicants who will graduate by Fall 2021
  • Admission to the bar of any state in the U.S. (Idaho State Bar is preferred). Will consider applicants intending to sit for a bar no later than July 2023
  • Demonstrated commitment to immigrant rights and willingness to support the mission, vision, and values of Community Council of Idaho
  • Strong organization and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and to supervise others.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office
  • Ability to travel frequently and overnight both in-state and out of state.
  • Current driver's license and proof of auto insurance
  • Must pass a background check.

Preferred

  • Ability to read, speak, and write in both English/Spanish in a business setting.

Required Physical Demands

  • Is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

Work Environment

Work in an office or classroom setting; may be exposed to electrical shock and fumes or airborne particles; the work may be stressful; the noise level is moderate to elevated.
