Staff Accountant - Washington, DC

Overview
Beacon Hill Financial has partnered with a client in Washington, DC in their search for a Staff Accountant to join their team. This fully onsite role is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and assisting with month-end close processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to grow within a collaborative accounting environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and internal reports.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
  • Support audit processes by preparing documentation and responding to requests.
  • Analyze financial data and assist with variance analysis and reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on accounting-related matters and process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
