Our client, a stable and rapidly growing company based in beautiful Purchase, NY, is looking for a dynamic Staff Accountant to join their tight-knit finance team. Salary/Hourly Rate:
$30/hr - $35/hr

Position Overview:
As our new Staff Accountant, you won't just be crunching numbers-you'll be the engine behind daily financial health. From mastering the month-end close to diving into revenue recognition for fast-paced eCommerce channels, your work will directly impact business growth. Working directly with the Controller and Assistant Controller, this role offers strong visibility, mentorship, and a clear path to full-time permanency. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting core accounting operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and contributing to process improvements across the finance function.

Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant:
  • Own the Ledger: Manage day-to-day accounting functions with accuracy, ensuring all accounts are properly maintained and balanced.
  • Master the Close: Execute and support smooth monthly and quarterly close processes.
  • Reconcile with Relevance: Complete monthly bank reconciliations and proactively investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Financial Storytelling: Prepare and analyze key financial reports, including balance sheets and profit & loss (P&L) statements.
  • eCommerce Accounting: Handle accurate revenue recognition and expense tracking for digital commerce channels.
  • Collaborate & Adapt: Partner closely with leadership on special projects and process improvement initiatives.
Required Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant:
  • Experience: 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Technical DNA: Strong foundational knowledge of GAAP principles.
  • Software Savvy: Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and hands-on experience with Sage 100.
  • Drive: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a self-starter mentality.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant:
  • Experience with Power BI for data visualization is a major plus.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Asana.
  • Prior experience working with online retail or eCommerce revenue streams.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field is highly preferred.
