Home State Bank is hiring a Staff Accountant - Financial Reporting in Crystal Lake, IL. This is a full-time position. The Staff Accountant - Financial Reporting will support the finance function of the accounting department by assisting with financial reporting, budgeting, and day-to-day accounting activities. This role ensures accuracy in financial records, supports compliance with regulatory requirements, and contributes to timely and reliable financial analysis to aid decision-making.

Looking for local candidates, as this position doesn't have relocation available.

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for daily accounting processes (Prologue Batch import, Sageworks files, Balance Fluctuation reports, daily balance sheet & income statement reports)
  • Assist with preparation of reports for monthly board package.
  • Prepare the quarterly qualified collateral report (QCR) for submission to the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago
  • Assist in the preparation of asset liability management reports for ALCO meetings.
  • Perform the monthly updating and posting of mortgage serving rights.
  • Assist with the annual budget process.
  • Compile and analyze financial data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Support internal and external audit processes by providing required documentation.
  • Assist in preparing management reports and financial dashboards.
  • Assist in the preparation of the quarterly call report filing.
  • Assists with processing loan transactions for the Mortgage Department

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Accounting knowledge
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, query system and accounting software/ERP system (including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Quickbooks)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Time management and ability to meet deadlines
  • Effective communication skills
  • Integrity and confidentiality

Training and Experience:

  • Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience and education
  • Accounting knowledge (3+ Years)
  • Financial Institution Experience preferred
