Position Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our retail accounting team. This is a hybrid (3 days in office) role based out of our Dallas, TX location. The Staff Accountant will support the monthly financial close process, be involved with financial reporting within the general ledger, and prepare GL account and bank reconciliations while gaining exposure to variance analysis, and process improvement initiatives.
Your Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Prepare and post journal entries to support monthly, quarterly, and the annual financial close process.
Perform daily bank clearing, including matching bank transactions to the general ledger and resolving discrepancies.
Prepare timely and accurate bank reconciliations for assigned accounts, ensuring reconciling items are clearly identified, supported, and resolved.
Partner with cross-functional teams to gather data and resolve accounting issues.
Support variance commentary preparation for senior management.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives across the accounting function.
Support ad hoc projects and financial analysis as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
Required Minimum of 2-4 years of accounting experience (insurance industry, and/or auditing experience a plus but not required)
Computer Applications – Proficiency with general ledger systems and Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word. Intermediate or better skill level in Excel is a must
Experience with general ledger systems (Oracle NetSuite or similar ERP preferred)
Workflow - Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Communication – Ability to clearly communicate with peers.
Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, work independently, and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Compensation This position is located in Dallas, TX. The base salary for this position at the time of this posting may range from $70,000 to $75,000. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility, and qualifications. We offer a competitive benefits package and variable pay programs.
