Staff Accountant Responsibilities

• 
  
• Maintain job cost accounting and ensure project costs are accurately tracked
• 
  
• The Staff Accountant will prepare and submit AIA billings and other progress billings
• 
  
• Partner with project managers to ensure accurate cost allocation and billing
• 
  
• Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger
• 
  
• Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
• 
  
• The Staff Accountant will assist with month-end and year-end close
• 
  
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable related to construction projects
• 
  
• Review project financials, including budgets, actual costs, and cost-to-complete reports
• 
  
• Track change orders and ensure they are reflected in project accounting
• 
  
• The Staff Accountant will prepare financial reports and support audit requests
• 
  
• Help maintain internal controls and identify process improvements
• 
  

Preferred Qualifications for the Staff Accountant Role

• 
  
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 
  
• 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or project-based accounting
• 
  
• Strong job costing experience required
• 
  
• Experience with AIA billing or construction billing processes preferred
• 
  
• Experience with Sage or other construction accounting software is a plus
• 
  
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• 
  
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
