Salary/Hourly Rate: $26/hr - $29/hr
Position Overview: Our client is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the Accounting Manager with accounts payable, data entry, general ledger maintenance, and payroll duties. This full-time role requires strong attention to detail and proficiency in Excel, with opportunities for cross-training in payroll.
Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant:- Enter daily sales accurately using Excel workbooks.
- Consolidate data into accounting software programs.
- Verify all bank activity on a weekly basis.
- Monitor store-level discrepancies.
- Process accounts payable invoicing weekly.
- Maintain vendor files and computer filing systems.
- Navigate vendor websites for information and updates.
- Perform general ledger entries for month-end closing as assigned.
- Cross-train in payroll for future shared responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager.
Required Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant:- Expert to intermediate proficiency in MS Excel and Office Outlook.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in accounts payable.
- Minimum 3 years of general ledger experience and understanding.
- Knowledge of basic office duties.
- Payroll experience is required.
- Ability to work independently with task lists and step-by-step instructions.
- Advanced problem-solving skills.
- Strong drive for accurate data entry.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant:- Experience with Sage 300 software is a plus; training will be provided.
- Experience working in a fast-paced accounting environment.
- Familiarity with franchise accounting operations.
- Ability to adapt to flexible work schedules.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Education Requirements:- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant certifications or coursework in accounting or payroll is a plus.
