Position Summary


The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting functions

of a FINRA-registered broker-dealer. This role assists with maintaining accurate financial records, preparing

regulatory and management reporting, performing account reconciliations, and ensuring compliance

with the SEC, FINRA, and GAAP requirements. The Staff Accountant works closely with operations, compliance,

treasury,and external auditors to support the firm's financial integrity and regulatory obligations.

 

Key Responsibilities

Prepare journal entries, maintain general ledger, and perform month-end close activities.
Reconcile accounts, analyze variances, and assist with accounts payable and fixed assets.
Support regulatory filings, including FOCUS reports, and ensure SEC and FINRA compliance.
Assist in financial statement preparation, management reports, and budgeting.
Support audits, internal controls, and process improvements.
Qualifications

Bachelor's - Accounting or finance, 2–10 years' experience, preferably in financial services.
Knowledge of U.S. GAAP, reconciliations, and regulatory rules.
Proficiency in Excel, strong analytical and organizational skills.
Preferred: experience with FINRA broker-dealers, SEC rules, and securities transactions.
