Job Summary 

 

Herschend is seeking an experienced and dynamic Staff Accountant to join our Finance operations for our newest hospitality venture, Dolly Parton’s SongTellerHotel, located in the heart of Downtown Nashville. The ideal candidate is passionate about hospitality, takes a consistent approach to financial initiatives and processes and exhibits extraordinary accuracy skills. The Staff Accountant is an advocate for the property, and passionate about delivering exceptional experiences to their team and guests.

The Staff Accountant position provides a unique opportunity for the right individual to contribute to the pre-opening efforts in defining financial policy and processes for Dolly Parton’s SongTeller Hotel featuring 245 rooms, two F&B Entertainment venues, a market, and Dolly Parton’s Museum.  The position is responsible for assisting in the implementation of financial initiatives and controls for the property to effectively position the property for a successful launch in Q2 2026. Of primary importance in this role is the ability to partner with our team in achieving our respective goals and fully contribute to the overall revenue and expense accuracy for the property.  To achieve success in this role, one must drive results while adhering to our Heartspitality® culture

Summary of Essential Functions & Responsibilities

 

  • Main responsibility will be general accounting duties and functions in areas of need within the Finance Department.
  • Assist in handling customer inquiries in timely efficient manner, including but not limited to researching and resolving customer issues.
  • Assist with Accounts Receivable functions and duties.
  • Assist in maintaining complete and accurate files to handle vendor and group billing inquiries.
  • Assist with generating Daily Revenue and Labor reports as needed.
  • Assist departments with general ledger research and re-class entries.
  • Assist with GL Functions (Entry Creation, Viewing Entries, Copy and Print, Run Reports).
  • Prepare monthly journal entries as assigned.
  • Hold monthly credit meetings.
  • Communicate with all involved parties in the credit process (Sales, Catering and CS, Reservations and Front Desk).
  • Be familiar with state sales tax laws and tax-exempt compliance reporting.
  • Review checkout with balance accounts, daily, to ensure and enforce hotels’ credit policy.
  • Display and effectively communicate SongTeller Hotel culture.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with all SongTeller Hotel Finance SOP’s.
  • Assist with Audit requests and/or special projects.
  • Prepare and distribute the various reports when needed.
  • Maintain open communication with all departments.
  • Perform other tasks requested by Accounting Manager, Assistant Director of Finance and Director of Finance.

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum of 1 year accounting administrative experience to include hotel front office experience.  Hotel accounting experience is strongly preferred.
  • College degree or formal accounting education preferred.
  • Previous experience in high customer contact environment, with previous experience answering customer questions and handling customer concerns.
  • Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate both verbally and in writing with guests, management, and co-workers, both in person and by telephone.
  • Ability to work cohesively with co-workers both within and outside of your department.
  • Ability to compute accurate mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to think clearly quickly and quickly to make concise decisions with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Developed computer proficiencies, particularly with Microsoft Office, Teams, Opera Cloud PMS, and Restaurant POS systems. 
  • Maintain a professional appearance offering a positive experience to all guests.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
