Our client is a well-established nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the local community. They are seeking an experienced accounting professional to join their collaborative Finance team as the Staff Accountant/Accounts Payable Specialist in a temp-to-hire opportunity with long-term potential.

Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant/Accounts Payable Specialist to support the Finance department with high-volume accounts payable processing and general accounting functions. This temp-to-hire opportunity is ideal for someone with strong AP experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working as part of a mission-driven organization.

Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant/Accounts Payable Specialist:
  • Process high-volume accounts payable transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Review, code, and enter invoices into the accounting system.
  • Perform three-way matching of invoices, purchase orders, and receiving documents.
  • Ensure timely vendor payments and resolve invoice discrepancies.
  • Maintain organized AP records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with month-end closing activities and other accounting functions as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and vendors to resolve payment issues.
  • Support the Controller and the Finance team with additional accounting projects.
Required Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant/Accounts Payable Specialist:
  • 3+ years of high-volume accounts payable experience.
  • Experience with invoice coding and three-way matching.
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable best practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics NAV (or similar ERP system).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant/Accounts Payable Specialist:
  • Bookkeeping experience with a strong focus on accounts payable.
  • Previous experience working in a nonprofit organization.
  • Staff accounting experience.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
