Overview

Under the leadership of the Providence College Humanities Program Director and the Principal Investigator of the NEH grant funding this position, is the St. Dominic Fellowship coordinator is responsible for building, administering, and assessing the St. Dominic Fellowship program. An initial framework of the Fellowship program is available on this webpage. This position will start July 1, 2026 and conclude December 31, 2028.

External funding for this position is provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities, and is expected to run through 03/31/2029, subject to the terms of the sponsoring agency and the continued availability of funds. The appointment does not imply a commitment to renewal or extension beyond the funding period.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and manage the annual recruitment and selection cycle, develop outreach materials, coordinate information sessions, steward inquiries, organize application review with a selection committee, and ensure mission-aligned review processes and communications. Oversee onboarding, advising, and program communications for Fellows. Create and maintain program guidelines, calendars, and requirement checklists, coordinate with leadership and relevant offices to align SDF activities with program activities and commitments. Maintain accurate records for applicants and Fellows. Track milestones and requirements. Coordinate with administrative support on scheduling, travel, reimbursements/honoraria related to SDF activities as needed. (40%)
  • Build and sustain a network of mentors (faculty and partners); match Fellows with mentors, set expectations, resources, and training for effective mentoring and monitor engagement and outcomes. Design and manage immersion experiences aligned with program learning outcomes. Coordinate logistics, schedules, partner agreements, and pre-/post-immersion reflection components. Collaborate with relevant campus offices on risk management and travel procedures. Curate complementary co-curricular programming that integrates with coursework and SDF milestones. Develop and implement an assessment plan and key performance indicators including recruitment, retention, completion, learning outcomes, and post-program trajectories. Collect and analyze data and maintain secure records. Prepare periodic and annual reports for the Humanities Program leadership and external funders. Ensure adherence to grant and institutional policies and recommend program improvements based on findings. (30%)
  • Course design and management, including team teaching when appropriate. Regular teaching and grading responsibilities during the academic year totaling 12 credits (typically 6 credits per semester). Align course offerings and co-curricular SDF activities to reinforce student learning and community-building, when possible. (30%)

MARGINAL DUTIES:

  • Perform all other duties as may be required.

Education and Experience

  • Masters degree in a humanistic discipline from an accredited institution required. PhD is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of three years experience in a college or university setting, including college-level instruction and program coordination, experience with mentoring programs, and/or high-impact practices (e.g., internships, service learning, immersions), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit students and support program design, administration, assessment planning and data management.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, diplomatic, and cross-campus collaboration skills.
  • Facility with public speaking and event/experience coordination.
  • Strong written communications skills
  • Ability to teach in an interdisciplinary college setting.
  • Capacity to design and coordinate mentorship and immersion experiences.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the Catholic and Dominican intellectual tradition.
  • Familiarity with or expertise in the American political tradition.
  • Experience with grant-funded program reporting and compliance.
