Position: SSI - DIRECTOR INFECTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Pay Rate: $ 84/hr
Schedule: 8 AM- 4.30 PM

Duties:
1. Monitors and ensures compliance with regulatory agency recommendations and requirements.
2. Participates with the Vice President and Administrator for Long Term Care and other members of Long Term Care Division (LTC) to accomplish goals of the LTC in conjunction with the goals of the Medical Center.
3. Regularly meets and interacts with all LTC Departments Directors, to encourage communication and joint planning of Infection Control Programs.
4. Coordinates activities on resident care units in conjunction with Medical Director, Director of Nursing Services, Nurse Managers and staff of all departments as identified in the facility assessment.
5. Conducts daily rounds, monitors compliance with institutional infection control and employee health policies.
6. Works in conjunction with OHS when needed to determine employee furloughs for communicable disease.
7. Develops, implements, reviews and revises policies and procedures as they relate to infection control throughout LTC.
8. Provides consultation in the area of clinical infection control expertise to all departments.
9. Provides orientation classes and continuing education classes regarding current infection control practices to all departments, residents, and families if necessary, information and precautions that relate to daily living after resident discharge..
10. Represents Infection Control on committees through active participation and representation at meetings.
11. Co-chairs the Antibiotic Stewardship Program with the Medical Director.

Skills:
1. Must demonstrate the ability to appropriately measure key indicators such as: Clinical outcomes, nosocomial and community infections, infection reporting, etc.
2. Evidence of clinical knowledge in epidemiology and infectious diseases.
3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to motivate others.
4. Demonstrated experience in program development including accountability, change management, consensus building, decision making, time management.
5. Ability to work well with multiple government agencies, community leaders, management team and hospital staff.
6. Demonstrates competence and progressive leadership experience.
7. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Membership in nursing and infection control organizations
Demonstrates commitment to continuing professional growth and development.
