JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Sr. Systems Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life
Insurance Company in Milwaukee, WI will collaborate with product,
engineers, and vendors to enhance, secure and modernize technology
tools. Focus on technologies to provide efficient solutions. Work with
Cloud based PaaS and SaaS platforms and integration points to On Prem
infrastructure. Collaborate with engineering team to monitor live
systems, fix bugs, write new features, maintain documentation,
participate in planning sessions and mentor junior engineers.
Collaborate with teams to deploy microservices to cloud using
containerization. Implement docker code in project. Design, build and
maintain various features and services. Work with relational databases,
such as DB2 (UDB and zOS), PostgreSQL, and MySQL databases, and with
microservices architecture. Apply background with Git Source Control and
CI/CD practices to create new branches in GitLab. Trigger CI/CD pipeline
to deploy code and eliminate any manual deployment. Analyze technical
solutions and provide estimates for feature implementation. Improve
resiliency of systems and create isolated components. Use Docker to
deploy to AWS and configure and monitor AWS instances. Telecommuting
permitted up to 2 days per week. Requires a Master's degree in Computer
Science or related field plus 2 years (or a bachelor's degree plus 6
years) of experience as a cloud/DevOps engineer or in a related
occupation. Experience must include 2 years with each of the following:
(1) Cloud based PaaS and SaaS platforms and integration points to On
Prem infrastructure; (2) CICD concepts and tools to assist in delivering
an infrastructure as a product; (3) performance tuning of application
stacks; (4) Agile and Waterfall methodologies; (5) AWS stack and cloud
platforms; (6) virtualization and containerization tools; (7) monitoring
and performance management of systems; and (8) Identity Platform and
