POSITION - SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER - MUNICIPAL AND INDUSTRIAL WATERWASTEWATER

Role Description

Our Arcadis Structural Team is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer (PE) with strong project management expertise to support our Northern Ohio and Southeast Michigan offices. This role would be a good fit for the right candidate who lives in Toledo, Cleveland, Akron, or even Detroit, MI. This critical role serves as a subject matter expert providing technical leadership, guiding project teams, and collaborating directly with clients. You will play a key part in delivering high-quality municipal and industrial wastewater projects while also supporting business development efforts to expand our client base and strengthen our presence in the region. A nationally recognized technical team will support you, and you will apply your structural design and construction engineering expertise to drive successful project execution from concept through completion. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement that also may include travel for project and client visits within the United States.

Role Accountabilities

  • Organize and conduct structural-related engineering investigations, calculations, and planning work that has a well-defined scope
  • Lead the development of calculations, plans, specifications, requests for proposals, and other contract documents
  • Work directly with a variety of engineering disciplines, office/project staff, client, and subcontractors throughout the project life cycle and have clear and concise oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to coordinate meetings, conduct effective client presentations, and prepare written reports
  • Exercise judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
  • Manage the production of engineering and construction drawings, specifications, bid packages, and cost estimates for projects
  • Will function as an Engineer of Record, Task Manager, or Project Engineer on projects to manage related budgets and schedules, lead deliverables, and manage plans, permit checklists, and scopes of work, and will facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of projects
  • Mentor entry-level and junior structural engineering staff
  • Some travel may be required for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, general planning, or overseeing construction activities depending on project staffing needs

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant engineering experience, including supervision of elements of large complex municipal and industrial water and wastewater projects
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Deep working history of leading and mentoring internal teams with a strong ability to develop effective, positive relationships with our external stakeholders
  • Bachelors degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
  • Functional knowledge and experience with AutoCAD/REVIT software
  • Strong structural analysis and design skills, including structural software such as Staad Pro, Risa, etc.
  • Excellent working knowledge of all building codes and standards, such as IBC, ACI, AISC, etc.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $105,000 - $155,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
