We are looking for a Sr Software Development Manager to lead our Ring Site engineering organization, spanning e-commerce, account platform. This is a senior leadership role where you will own the technical direction, team health, and delivery of the experiences that millions of Ring and Blink customers interact with every day, from signing in and managing their account, to purchasing and managing their subscriptions.

In this role, you will lead a multi-team organization of engineers across frontend, backend. You will set the technical vision, drive roadmap prioritization, and make critical decisions on architecture, staffing, and delivery, balancing speed, quality, and operational excellence across a portfolio of interdependent services.

You will partner closely with Product, Design, Finance, and business teams across Ring, Blink, and Amazon to align engineering investment with company goals. You will represent your organization at the senior leadership level, influencing strategy and advocating for your customers and your engineers.

The right candidate brings a proven track record of leading managers and senior engineers, scaling distributed teams, and delivering complex, high-availability consumer web systems. You thrive in ambiguity, raise the bar on engineering culture, and know how to build trust across organizations.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a multi-team engineering organization spanning Site Platform, E-commerce, and Accounting
  • Manage and develop engineering managers and senior engineers, building a high-performing, inclusive team culture with a strong operational bar
  • Own the technical vision and architecture direction for Ring"s customer-facing web platform, ensuring systems are scalable, reliable, and secure
  • Drive roadmap prioritization in close partnership with Product, Design, Finance, and business stakeholders across Ring, Blink, and Amazon
  • Make key decisions on system design, staffing, project scope, and delivery timelines - balancing short-term execution with long-term platform health
  • Lead the delivery of e-commerce experiences including checkout, subscriptions, billing, and account management for millions of Ring and Blink customers
  • Own operational excellence across your organization - driving zero Shepherd slippage, COE follow-through, on-call health, and security compliance
  • Represent your organization at the senior leadership level, influencing cross-functional strategy and advocating for both customers and engineers
  • Partner with away teams across Ring, Blink, and Amazon to provide shared platform capabilities (AppLauncher, ApiProxy, Session Service, ConfigService) that accelerate org-wide delivery
  • Define and track engineering metrics - velocity, quality, incident trends, and team health - and hold the bar consistently across teams
  • Recruit, retain, and develop top engineering talent, building a pipeline of future leaders within the organization

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
