Position Specific Description

Our Engineering & Construction Division is looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join the Commissioning Team in Juno Beach, FL. The selected candidate for this role will be responsible for:

  • The execution of assigned Renewable Power Plant Projects as it relates to commissioning, start up, and operational turnover.
  • Ensuring commissioning activities for assigned projects are performed with high quality and adhering to all NextEra Energy and FPL safety policies.
  • Coordination and management of EPC contractor personnel, OEM start up personnel, third party start up contractors, and operations personnel onsite
  • Project reliability at operational turnover with plants exhibiting as little lost time as necessary.
  • Compliance with all project contractual documents to include Power Purchase Agreement and Large Generator Interconnect Agreement deliverables.
  • Interfacing with Transmission Operators and Independent Service Operators to ensure project energization dates are achieved.
  • Working collaboratively with resources in various disciplines to determine project priorities and work plans.
  • Meeting corporate objectives with limited project management, scheduling and estimating resources.
  • Ensuring that projects are efficiently, effectively, and safely implemented in accordance with department procedures and policies.
  • Managing walk down of planned work, validates acceptance of completed work to design requirements, approves contractor payment requests.
  • Verifying constructability, ensures proper resource allocations, assesses field status and resolves issues as needed.
  • Supervising activities and/or coordinates activities or groups, such as safety programs, engineering, construction, budget, and analysis and contract administration.
  • Overseeing commissioning activities to meet corporate objectives, with limited project management, scheduling and estimating resources.

To be successful in this role, the candidate must be a self-starter with a high drive for quality, execution, and safety. Proven track record and ability to interact with engineering personnel on highly technical issues plus the ability to multi-task and oversee multiple projects at once.

5+ years' experience in project support for renewable power generation, project construction, start up and commissioning strongly preferred. 3 years' experience minimum working for an EPC in the renewable space is preferred. Ability to travel at a minimum of 10%, with periods of time during heavy workloads of up to 20%.

Job Overview

This position is responsible for the overall management of assigned organization and projects, to ensure compliance within required budgetary, scheduling, and safety goals. Employees in this role coordinate and manage construction work performed by contractors and/or vendors at the project site. Successful candidates manage the engineering, procurement and construction oversight-activities necessary to develop, license/permit, erect, start-up, and commence commercial operations.

  • Verifies constructability, ensures proper resource allocations, assesses field status and resolves issues as needed
  • Leads project meetings and reviews budget, risk tracker, and contingency allocations
  • Interfaces with projects designated management committees, or acts as Executive Director of project activities
  • Supervises activities and/or coordinates activities or groups, such as safety programs, engineering, construction, budget, and analysis and contract administration
  • Oversees commissioning activities to meet corporate objectives, with limited project management, scheduling and estimating resources
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
