POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a year round position that includes direct responsibility of 50 elementary based Before & After School programs and 25 Summer Camp programs located in a 5-county service area throughout Northeast Florida. This position develops, organizes, implements and leads high quality Youth Development Programs, supervises regional Directors, monitors YMCA and State policy and procedures, interacts effectively with all stakeholders, and adheres to written budgets to foster individual growth and development of the children and staff at the YMCA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintains fiscal responsibility for assigned Before & After School and Camp programs.
- Responsible for oversight of full time and part time child care staff including the hiring program staff, creating and implementing staff development tools to ensure strong staff support, continual professional growth, and maintains current and accurate knowledge of the responsibilities and training needs of staff under own supervision.
- Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas.
- Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed. Maintains and ensures compliance with written activity schedules, meal menus, fire drills, incident/accident reports and other forms of parent and staff communication.
- Develops and fosters relationships with state child care licensing agency, school administration, parent groups, community partners and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs.
- Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Provides staff leadership for annual fundraising campaign and committees as assigned.
- Leads staff meetings and trainings for Before & After School and Summer Camp. Conducts frequent program site visits.
- Uses quality assessment tools to observe, analyze, and improve the quality of childcare programs.
- Develops Quality Improvement Plans for programs.
- Maintains positive communication and demonstrates a high level of professional ethics through fair and consistent implementation of all YMCA policies and procedures and licensure requirements with staff, program participants, and parents.
- Provides data and reports as required for assigned programs.
- Ensures all First Coast YMCA standards and best practices are implemented and followed.
- Applies YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to best practices, emergency procedures, medical and disciplinary situations and child abuse prevention.
- Ensures the health and safety of all members/guests.
- Inspect physical space to ensure the safety, orderliness, sanitation and cleanliness of facilities.
- Demonstrates compliance with YMCA Child Abuse Prevention and Abuse Risk Management policies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree preferred; Education, Recreation Management, or related., preferable in education, recreation or human services, and a minimum of 3 -5 years of experience managing youth, family, recreation programs and special events.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in YMCA management experience or directly related leadership experience in a non-profit organization serving youth.
- Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards and completion of YMCA program specific certifications.
- Ability to develop, train and implement quality developmentally appropriate activities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and team oriented. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility, resourcefulness, high energy and adapt to changing needs.
- Organization and time management skills necessary to meet deadlines.
- Understand the nature and purpose of the YMCA and expect a high level of performance in the respective roles of volunteers and staff.
- Ability to represent the YMCA in a mature and professional manner building strong relationships with stakeholders and parents.
