Sr Process Engineer - Formation

We are seeking a Formation Process Engineer for the Cell Manufacturing Engineering team. This role focuses on process engineering for our pilot formation line in San Jose, collaborating with R&D and test teams, conducting experiments, and leading technology transfer to pilot scales.ResponsibilitiesOwn process engineering and technology transfer for pilot battery cell formationInitiate root‑cause analysis when an excursion or new failure mode is discoveredSupport cross‑functional team members to solve root cause and implement resolutionsScrape data from database systems to collect and report on dataOwn and maintain standard operating procedures for formation processesTrain technicians on formation operations and proceduresDevelop project plans and effectively communicate status and findings at various levels of managementRequirementsBachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent experience2+ years' experience in engineering involving electrical or electromechanical systemsAble to converse confidently on all aspects of cell manufacturing from electrode through formation for at least one Lithium‑based material systemProficient in SQL and statistical analysis software (R, JMP, Minitab)Experience operating and troubleshooting battery formation / testing equipment & software (e.g. MACCOR, Arbin, NEWARE, etc.)Proficient in GD&T and tolerance stack‑up analysisProficiency in SolidWorks or CAD a plusProficiency in Python a plusPhysical RequirementsMust be able to lift 50 lbs.Be able to work in a lab standing up to 8 hours each dayCompensation and BenefitsBase salary range: $116,600.00 – $175,000.00.
