Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer for the team. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.
What You'll Get To Do:
Primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Support design of complex electrical systems, ensuring compliance with weapon-system requirements, MIL-STD, UFC, and applicable codes.
Oversee evaluation of vendor documentation, data sheets, and technical proposals for compliance and suitability.
Direct creation and management of Electrical Technical Data Packages, Issue-for-Construction, as-built documentation, and interface models while maintaining configuration control.
Conduct advanced electrical analyses, trade studies, and short-circuit/arc-flash calculations using tools such as ETAP, SKM PTW32, MATLAB, or ANSYS.
Ensure proper application and interpretation of electrical codes, standards, and hazard-area classifications throughout the design lifecycle.
Identify and mitigate technical risks; develop and present design-change proposals and manage baseline configuration.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineering team members, promoting best practices and continuous-process improvement.
Serve as primary liaison with external customers, vendors, and cross-functional teams, representing the organization in technical reviews.
Integrate electrical designs with propulsion, guidance, and weapon-system interfaces to support system-level integration and testing.
Lead adoption of Agile and model-based engineering practices, including Teamcenter/CPLM, to improve design efficiency and traceability.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of relevant experience, OR a Masters degree and6 years of relevant experience, OR a PhD and 4 years of relevant experience.
Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret Clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Demonstrated knowledge of electrical principles, power distribution, cable/harness, circuit-card, and control-system design; proficient with Siemens NX (or equivalent) and electrical CAD tools.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and engineering scheduling applications; able to perform electrical analysis and utilize simulation tools.
Experience reviewing engineering specifications, schematics and/or drawings with the ability to translate customer driven requirements into specifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience performing short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies using ETAP, SKM PTW32, or similar tools.
Proficiency in electrical CAD platforms such as NX, Revit, or comparable systems.
Hands-on experience with simulation/analysis tools (ANSYS, MATLAB) and model-based environments (Teamcenter/CPLM).
Demonstrated experience with continuous process improvement, Agile methodologies, and knowledge of data-transmission formats (Serial, TCP/IP, Fiber, etc.).

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate''s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
