We are proud to work tirelessly to create and lead the quantum ecosystem towards meaningful advancements today and set the technology roadmap for tomorrow.POSITION SUMMARYInfleqtion is seeking a highly experienced opto‑mechanical engineer; this role is responsible for creating RF/optical systems with robust performance in challenging environments.This role requires close collaboration with our customers, multidisciplinary teammates, manufacturing partners, suppliers, and subcontractors. The individual will define requirements, complete designs, and assemble hardware throughout the program lifecycle, ensuring delivery against milestones and commitments while maintaining alignment with Infleqtion's internal product lifecycle and quality standards. Cross‑disciplinary engagement is expected, with this role driving technical alignment across hardware, software, systems, and physics domains.JOB RESPONSIBILITIESDesign, assembly, and test compact opto‑mechanical systems for rugged environments including shock, vibration, and temperature while maintaining robust system performance.Collaborate effectively with multi‑disciplinary team to derive opto‑mechanical design requirements.Lead, mentor, and delegate tasks to junior mechanical engineers available to assist you across the entire project execution.Balance multi‑physics design space tradeoffs to converge on optimal systemic solutions.Present your work at both informal team meetings and formal design reviews with customers.Identifying and engaging key suppliers.Create detailed mechanical documentation including part and assembly drawings, BOMs, and assembly procedures.Assemble prototypes and engineering development units to determine optimal techniques, and authoring assembly documentation for scalable production.Develop and implement test plans to ensure system requirements are met.Supporting development of risk management plans, risk resolution, and supporting reliability analysis and continuous improvement.Following Infleqtion's Product Lifecycle Process and supporting Phase gate reviews, critical design reviews, and executive updates.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or other directly related field.5+ years of relevant industry experience. A master's degree or higher can be a substitute for experience.Expert knowledge of SolidWorks and working experience with SolidWorks PDM.An in‑depth understanding of the GD&T drawing standards.Excellent proficiency in design first principles.Demonstrated DFx (design for cost, manufacturing, assembly, test, sustainment).Experience designing precision optical and/or mechanical components and assemblies.Experience using FEAs to design systems to operate in challenging environments and testing those designs.Hands‑on engineer with experience building complex prototypes and EDUs.Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.An Exceptional Candidate will also haveMaster's or PhD degree in mechanical engineering or related field.Experience in delivering new, advanced technologies to commercial markets.Detailed knowledge of opto‑mechanical design techniques for precise and stable mounting and alignment of fiber optic and free‑space laser systems.Environmental MIL‑STD‑801 testing experience.RF design material selection, using HFSS and/or RF testing experience.Experience in Zemax or other optical analysis tools.Experience with sheet metal design and rack systems.TRAVELUp to 5% travel may be required.WORKING CONDITIONS and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSWork will normally be performed in an office environment.
