Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we've designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

We"re seeking an experienced Senior Hardware Commodity Leader to lead and drive hardware supply chain strategies which may include battery, optics, solar, electromechanical, or mechanical sourcing for our Hardware Supply Chain team supporting manufacturing across Amazon Leo"s satellite constellation. This role will be instrumental in building and scaling our hardware manufacturing suppliers to support the production of thousands of satellites. You"ll work cross-functionally with production, quality, and engineering to resolve technical tradeoffs, manage vendor relationships, and ensure we deliver reliable hardware at scale. This role combines hands-on engineering problem-solving with strategic supply chain ownership in a fast-moving aerospace environment.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Lead, coach, and develop a team of sourcing managers to drive accountability and high performance in the procurement of mission-critical aerospace components.

  2. Translate high-level organizational strategy into sourcing strategies that balance supply chain resilience, cost efficiency, and technical requirements.

  3. Partner with Engineering, Program Management, and Quality Assurance teams to align on supplier selection and resolve technical trade-offs using data-driven documentation.

  4. Proactively mitigate supply chain risks for specialized materials and components.

  5. Identify and resolve cross-team bottlenecks by establishing and auditing scalable operational mechanisms to maintain high-quality delivery.

  6. Implement and enforce rigorous industry benchmark standards to continuously evaluate and improve supplier performance, cost, and quality against global aerospace best practices.

Report status to senior leadership in a clear and succinct manner

  1. Provide clear, concise, and high-impact reports to the senior leadership team regarding sourcing status, strategic initiatives, and critical supply chain risks.

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
