What Youll Do
Lead Weight Control: Take a leading role in developing comprehensive weight control plans for large aircraft modifications.
Technical Analysis: Support multiple programs ranging from conceptual design studies to quick-reaction upgrades from a mass properties perspective.
Data Management: Generate and maintain mass properties databases to track weight and Center of Gravity (CG) estimates accurately.
Field Support: Support physical aircraft weighings and ensure all associated forms and charts are precisely documented.
Collaboration: Act as the primary point of contact for mass properties reporting, communicating effectively with multi-disciplinary design teams, external customers, and suppliers.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelors of Science degree in a related engineering discipline.
Experience: Typically 10+ years of relevant professional experience in mass properties.
Technical Expertise: * Deep knowledge of SAWE Recommended Practices RP-7 and RP-8.
Proven experience building mass properties estimates from CAD data.
Expertise in Parametric Weight Estimation and conceptual level design support.
Demonstrated ability as an author for official weight and balance reports.
Compliance: Thorough understanding of industry-standard engineering principles and practices.
Preferred Skills & Experience
Software: Experience with Dassault 3DX, Solidworks, or parametric modeling tools.
Specialized Training: Automated Weight and Balance System (AWBS) training within the last three years.
Sector Background: Experience with Commercial Derivative Aircraft (CDA) for military programs or a background in the Aerospace and Defense industry (DoD/Military).
Advanced Principles: Familiarity with model-based definition (MBD) and fundamentals of flight mechanics.
