Medline Industries, LP is seeking Sr Legal Counsels & Regional Heads to join our team in Laredo, TX.
Job Description:
- Draft separation agreements (termination agreements, resignation letters and full payment receipts).
- Provide documents responsive to subpoenas and discovery requests.
- Review and approve termination requests and escalate issues as necessary.
- Serve as the primary person responsible for collecting information responsive to legal matters.
- Monitor new and existing legislation, and trends and plan for risks in the employment law area.
- Develop/update policies and guidelines in collaboration with human resources personnel and other labour and employment counsel.
- Coach business partners on employment matters to mitigate risk to the organization through adherence to legal and regulatory requirements and objective application of policies and practices.
- Supervise outside counsel handling routine litigation matters.
- Create and lead training on basic employment law and personnel issues.
- Participate in collective bargaining process, including contract negotiations with local unions, as well as to carry out the corresponding annual reviews before the labor authority.
- Assist and support employee and compliance investigations performed by human resources as well as perform such investigations, as needed.
- Draft individual employment agreements.
- Collaborate and support in corporate restructurings.
- Supervise the compliance regarding the benefits granted to employees.
- Participate in procedures regarding social security matters.
- Support inquiries, investigations, and audits from government or regulatory agencies.
- Telecommuting is permitted, but applicant must work from the worksite location at least 2-3 days per week.
- Travel is required up to 30% of the time for business purposes (within the U.S. and Mexico).
Job Requirements:
- PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS: Juris Doctor degree its foreign equivalent, or similar certification sufficient to practice law in the jurisdiction of its issuance, and 6 years of related work experience.
- Special Skills, License/Certification: Must be licensed to practice law in Mexico, or eligible and willing to acquire a license to practice law in Mexico.
- In addition, experience with the following skills is required: (1) Experience providing employment related legal counsel at a law firm, corporation, or maquiladoras. (2) Experience developing legal strategies and tactics for complex, high profile matters. (3) Experience providing legal advice to senior executives and other senior leaders. (4) Experience discovering, isolating, and resolving complex issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems. (5) Experience working with cross-functional teams and facilitating teams to identify and implement solutions to complex problems.

WORK HOURS: Full Time (8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday)
PAY RANGE: $177,000.00 to $266,000.00 per year
