Job Summary:

This is an operational senior systems administration role requiring scalable hosting design, sustainable administration standards, systems security best practices, and team leadership expertise for assigned systems.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Accountable team lead for assigned Linux or Microsoft server systems with respect to administration tasks, enhancement projects, system availability, adherence with corporate standards, and application of security best practices. • Oversee the systems work of team members or support technicians with respect to assigned systems to ensure adherence to standards and task accuracy. • Monitor and maintain continuity with system software licensing and maintenance agreements. • Create and maintain concise operational and disaster recovery documentation. • Perform systems automation scripting and provide documentation and support for any such scripts. • Accountable for consistency and automation where possible between development, QA, and production environments. • Accountable for facilitation and implementation of infrastructure systems and application security measures. This may include application customizations for authentication and auditing logging. • Provide requirements, design, and assist with maintenance of server co-location space as needed. • Responsibility for the completion of assigned complex or long-term information systems projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines. • Responsible for the hosting design, configuration, documentation, and maintenance of any assigned Linux or Microsoft server systems. • Maintain and plan for capacity of file systems, storage volumes, and disk systems in cooperation with storage administrators. • Maintain growth statistics, resource capacity forecasts, backups, software inventories, and hardware inventories. • Provide technical support on all systems-related issues and troubleshoots complex systems problems. • Other duties as assigned or requested.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

• Linux/Unix systems administration expertise required • Strong scripting skills in Perl, Shell, or Python required • Knowledge of the IPv4/IPv6 Network Addressing and Domain Naming System required • Knowledge of systems administration best practices required • Strong experience with Java applications and application servers including Tomcat and Jboss • Expertise with Unix and/or Linux systems administration and troubleshooting • Excellent written and verbal communications skills for greater efficacy in documentation and support case handling

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree required, Study in Information Systems or a related field desired • Minimum eight (8) years of related IT experience • Relational database comprehension and experience with SQL syntax • Windows 2008/2012 and Active Directory systems administration experience preferred

Language:

• Fluency, both written and spoken, in English is required • ICANN is a global organization that values diversity; preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated skills in additional languages besides English
