You ensure physical layer infrastructure designs are resilient, scalable, cost-effective, and aligned with both industry standards and Switch design requirements. Your work directly impacts speed to market, design consistency, and long-term facility performance.

This is a remote role with domestic travel expected to be less than 25%.

What Youll Do

  • Develop company-wide physical layer (Layer 1) standards for telecom pathways, spaces, and structured cabling systems.

  • Oversee consultant design for fiber optic and copper ISP infrastructure to ensure scalability and compliance.

  • Review ICT pathways, cabling designs, equipment submittals, and shop drawings.

  • Develop and maintain Basis of Design documentation and specification templates.

  • Lead risk identification and mitigation during design development.

  • Assess engineering assumptions and evaluate design alternatives.

  • Support master planning by reviewing communications system layouts.

  • Manage multiple concurrent projects designed by external consultants.

  • Coordinate with internal engineering teams, construction managers, quantity surveyors, vendors, utilities, and AHJs.

  • Assist in preparing and reviewing RFPs for design consultants.

  • Work with manufacturers to specify appropriate ICT equipment.

  • Ensure compliance with ANSI/TIA, ANSI/BICSI, and applicable code requirements.

  • Identify and lead initiatives to improve cost, quality, schedule, and design consistency across sites.

  • Research emerging ICT technologies and evaluate applicability to hyperscale data center environments.

  • Present technical information clearly to customers, leadership, and peers.

What Were Looking For

  • You independently identify and mitigate design risks.

  • You balance cost, speed, and quality in high-growth environments.

  • You hold high standards for documentation and compliance.

  • You communicate clearly with consultants, contractors, and internal teams.

  • You remain organized while managing multiple projects.

  • You contribute practical improvements to design standards and processes.

What Youll Bring

Required

  • BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) or equivalent BICSI credential (DCDC, RTPM, OSP).

  • 10+ years of ICT design experience, preferably in mission-critical environments.

  • Experience developing structured cabling designs for fiber optic and category copper systems.

  • Strong knowledge of ANSI/TIA and ANSI/BICSI standards.

  • Experience reviewing consultant-generated design documentation.

  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, SmartSheet, and Microsoft Office.

Preferred

  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD.

  • Experience supporting hyperscale or colocation data center projects.
