THE ROLE:
The Senior Engineer, Equipment will work onsite at our state of art Innovation and Manufacturing facility in Winston-Salem, NC. Will develop innovative concepts to apply new technologies related to production
automation and quality control and provide detailed coordination and management of key design/build/commission activities relating to Herbalife's Winston-Salem manufacturing, packaging, and distribution systems. This position will play
a key role in the planning, resource definition and allocation, scheduling, contracting, budgeting, risk assessment, tracking, and execution of projects involving packaging equipment installation and process implementation. The Sr.
Engineer will also establish means to maintain continuous and effective communication with all collaborators and develop means to record and organize key information for future improvement of project execution. This position will interact with multiple departments and give presentations to management regarding project details and progress.
HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:
• Work with manufacturing, quality, safety, planning and other key site collaborators to find opportunities for product quality control using innovative sensing technologies such as X-ray, metal detection, check weighing and lasers
• Develop innovative concepts and implement new equipment and plant automation using robotics, AGV's, and intelligent warehousing
• Identify standard methodology technologies to address safety, quality and production opportunities to promote the Herbalife 'Build it Better' culture
• Design, coordinate, construct, install and commission process and packaging equipment lines
• Understand and implement standard methodologies for packaging and process automation accounting for key elements of packaging design and product properties.
• Work with in-house manufacturing and contract manufacturers to ensure that the process and packaging systems and procedures provide consistent operating conditions and the safety and integrity of finished products.
• Troubleshoot problems with components, materials and machinery processes in coordination with Quality, Production, Operations, Maintenance, vendors and OEMs.
• Draft protocols and execute packaging line and process capability trials in support of commercial deployment of systems.
• Support validation/qualification line work, including FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ & PQ, at HLF facility or outside partners to ensure machinery and processes meet all requirements.
• Develop SOP's to ensure processes consistently meet all required operating standards for processing and packaging.
• Capture and institute engineering standards based on learnings from previous projects for use in futureHerbalife Manufacturing projects.
• Develop detailed performance schedules for all major tasks and areas of coordination, and monitor responsiveness and execution by Herbalife and outside vendors.

Skills:
• Working knowledge of food/nutraceutical materials/processes/equipment
• Organizational/Motivational leadership skills coupled with strong project management and analytical ability.
• Must be able to manage multiple and competing tasks.
• Strong technical skills with the ability to understand food or pharmaceutical plant equipment/operation
• Technical skills with the ability to understand formulations/process/procedures.
• Ability to frame and solve practical problems, carry them to conclusion and communicate results professionally and effectively in written and oral form.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute complex scope, budget, timeline, resource allocation, purchasing, contracting, communication and tracking plans.
• Working knowledge of GMPs and other regulatory requirements.
• Proficient with computer software including MS Outlook, Word, Excel. Preferred
• Experience with manufacturing integration/cultural change
Experience:
• 5-7 years Equipment and/or Processing Engineering or related Engineering manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of materials/process/equipment/plant automation systems/product quality measuring systems (Xray, Metal Detection, Checkweighing, Lasers)
• Knowledge of packaging materials and their interaction with equipment efficiencies.
• Mechanical aptitude, understanding equipment and operation functionality to establish/challenge/optimize run
rates/productivity
Education:
• Bachelor's Degree in Food, Bioprocess, Agricultural, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering,or another Engineering discipline
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• 10 years of experience with relevant engineering/technical project execution in a manufacturing environment
• 5 years' experience ina cGMP or other regulatory environments: Food/Dietary/Nutritional/Pharmaceutical or kindred product industries
• Powder, liquid, and/or tea blending and packaging experience
• Experience implementing robotics, AGV's, intelligent warehousing, advanced sensing systems for product quality, related controls (PLC's) and software
• Machine Design/Automation expertise,
• Master's Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering
• Six Sigma Certifications
• Project Management Professional Certification (PMP)
