Worthington Enterprises is seeking a Senior Electrical Project Engineer to lead and execute moderately complex to complex electrical and controls engineering projects across multiple manufacturing facilities.
This role is responsible for delivering capital and process improvement projects including equipment procurement and installation, facility electrical upgrades, automation implementation, and advanced electrical systems integration (PLC, HMI, servo systems, VFDs, robotics, and safety controls).
The Senior Electrical Project Engineer will play a key role in Transformation and Continuous Improvement initiatives and collaborate cross-functionally with New Product Development (NPD), Commercial, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Quality, Regulatory, EH&S, Finance, and senior leadership teams. Key Responsibilities Project Leadership & Execution
Vet identified needs and develop detailed project scope and objectives
Develop and manage project budgets and schedules
Prepare capital funding approval documentation
Lead and support project teams through risk identification and mitigation
Deliver projects on time, within budget, and with full functionality
Communicate project status, metrics, and risks to stakeholders and senior leadership
Electrical & Controls Engineering
Lead design, implementation, and troubleshooting of:
PLC/HMI systems
Servo drives and VFDs
Safety control systems
Three-phase power systems
Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Ethernet and industrial networking systems
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (NFPA 70, NFPA 79, ANSI B11, ISO 13849, etc.)
Serve as a technical resource for facility-level electrical and controls troubleshooting
Support new automation and robotics applications (programming experience highly desired)
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
Support corporate transformation and CI initiatives
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence
Mentor corporate and facility technical staff
Ability to travel 25-50%
Required Qualifications Education
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electro-Mechanical Engineering
4-year ABET accredited degree preferred
Experience
Minimum of 10 years of related experience
Manufacturing background with capital project experience required
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of machine design and operating principles
Strong knowledge of machine repair and troubleshooting practices
Experience with electrical system and controls design techniques
Proficiency in reading, writing, building, and troubleshooting machine control systems
Proficient with:
Rockwell / Allen-Bradley software
Siemens (and other) PLC platforms
HMI, servo drives, VFDs, and safety controllers
Proficient in 2D and 3D design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
