Position Summary: The Senior Director of Pharmacy Business Operations will provide strategic leadership and oversight for the pharmacy business operations, including the 340B program, medication procurement, and revenue cycle management. This role ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, optimizes program performance, and enhances financial impact.

Education, License & Cert: Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Pharmacy, or a related field, Masters degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in pharmacy business operations, including 340B program management.

The Senior Director of Pharmacy Business Operations shall personify strong leadership and interpersonal skills, excellent communication and collaboration abilities, and be able to show subject matter expert (SME) level knowledge of the 340B program, compliance and management and have a strong understanding of medical terminology, pharmaceutical names, and pharmacy laws and regulations.

Essential Functions:

Leadership and Management:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans, policies, and procedures to ensure high standards of cost-effective pharmaceutical care.
  • Develop strategic departmental goals in alignment with organizational goals and accountability for those goals.
  • Select, hire, mentor, train, and plan succession for the 340B program team and pharmacy business operations staff.
  • Fostering a positive and productive, and collaborative work environment.
  • Foster strong internal and external relationships to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
  • Represent the organizations interests in the state and federal regulatory discussions related to 340B and pharmaceutical billing.
  • Develop and manage the department budget, monitor financial performance, and implement cost-saving measures while maintaining compliance and quality.

340B Program Oversight:

  • Ensure compliance with all 340B regulatory requirements.
  • Optimize 340B program performance and financial impact.
  • Develop and execute 340B strategy, engaging system-wide stakeholders.
  • Oversee staff education, risk mitigation, vendor management, and technology optimization to support 340B integrity and effectiveness.

Procurement Oversight:

  • Lead cost optimization of inpatient and outpatient medications, durable medical equipment, and pharmacy supplies.
  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies that align with the organizations business goals.
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure efficient procurement processes.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to provide actionable drug cost insights and support strategic decision making.

Revenue Cycle Oversight:

  • Oversee billing, charge capture, and revenue cycle processes to ensure financial efficiency.
  • Develop and implement analytics-driven strategies to support pharmacy performance improvement.
  • Ensure alignment with system wide quality, safety, and financial goals.
  • Monitor and address changes that may impact 340B qualification and revenue cycle processes (modifiers, etc.).

Quality Improvement:

  • Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and medication-use processes.
  • Analyze data and outcomes to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective action plans.
  • Promote and participate in research and educational activities related to pharmacy practice.

Other Duties:

  • Performs other duties as directed by the SVP, Chief Pharmacy Office as assigned.
