JOB SUMMARY:
This role is responsible for ensuring the performance, reliability, security, and availability of SQL Server databases that support customer-facing applications and internal systems. The ideal candidate is both technically strong and operationally focused, with the ability to collaborate closely with application developers, data engineers, and infrastructure teams in fast-paced environments.
This position plays a key role in performance tuning, troubleshooting, database design guidance, and ongoing administration across high-volume OLTP systems.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administer and maintain SQL Server databases across development, test, and production environments
Monitor database health, performance, and availability; proactively identify and resolve issues
Lead performance tuning and optimization efforts, including:
Query tuning and execution plan analysis
Index management and optimization
Stored procedure review and refactoring
Partner with application developers to:
Review SQL code for efficiency and scalability
Assist with database design, schema changes, and data modeling decisions
Support high transaction OLTP systems in e commerce and financial, environments
Implement and manage backup, restore, and recovery strategies
Troubleshoot complex production issues using native and third-party monitoring tools
Participate in production support and on call rotations as required
Assist help desk and support teams with SQL- and database related issues
Contribute to database standards, documentation, and best practices
Participate in capacity planning, performance forecasting, and continuous improvement initiatives
