JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a Senior CAD Designer, and in addition to the purpose of CAD designer, you will be responsible to generate 3D models and assemblies for moderate to highly complex product designs given basic guidance and direction from the engineering staff. You will iterate though design options considering business, manufacturing, material, process, and environment impacts. It will be expected that you leverage the full depth and breadth of the CAD and CAE technologies and techniques to turn ideas into solutions.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
To assist in developing product design solutions by providing your input, thoughts, ideas, and options under general direction of engineer’s rough product design intent.
To carry out assignments of a moderately to advanced complex nature with general latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Converts engineers' rough product design sketches into working 3D CAD models, assemblies, and drawings.
Update Product Engineering documentation to accurately represent the red-line changes aligning to and enforcing the corporate standards, procedures and best practices within their product team. Designers at this level will have little to no changes stemming from CAD audits.
Following CAD standards and best practices while maintaining curiosity to identify and bring forward new ideas
Assisting with prototype development and communicating with suppliers (3D printing, outside vendors) Meeting with suppliers and vendors to align and optimize design requirements
Act as the team RDI CAD application, PLM process, and CAD Standards expert. Work to support the development and communication of CAD Standards.
To mentor and train lower level CAD associates on the standards, best practices and processes required to generate and manage the design models and documentation.
Identify and schedule deliverables, milestones and required tasks. Monitor project progress and take corrective action to achieve timelines.

Communicate timelines to teams
May require limited work direction of CAD Drafting associate’s work activities to meet timelines.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate of Science Degree with a suggested minimum of 5 years’ experience in related area of work
Proficient 3D solid modeling CAD Skills, including the ability to work through challenges independently
Demonstrated knowledge of basic design analysis tools
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of tools.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of tools.
Demonstrated knowledge of material characteristics and tooling concepts influencing design requirements
Ability to build and establishing models for simulations including thermal simulation scenarios, FEA simulation coordination & Tolerance and Datum Strategy development
Demonstrates ability to assess design concepts with manufacturing, costs, performance, sustainability, etc in mind.
Process specific design knowledge (injection molding, extrusion, milling ect.) & provide design feedback
NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in an engineering or research development environment
3D printing experience
AutoCAD and Inventor experience
5+ years experience in a related area of work
Demonstrates effective communication skills
PAY RANGE:

PROFIT SHARING: In 2026 Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $3,600 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit Sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
