Wanco Inc. is seeking a Sr. Buyer in our Arvada, CO production facility. Summary: Wanco Inc. is seeking an experienced industrial manufacturing Sr. Buyer in our Arvada, CO production facility. The Sr. Buyer has demonstrated buying, scheduling, vendor management, negotiation, and material planning experience in an industrial manufacturing environment and experience with internationally and domestically sourced industrial components, materials, and assemblies. This position serves as the frontline communication with our vendors. Responsibilities include sourcing materials, monitoring supplier approval and performance, monitoring inventory levels, issuing purchase orders from the ERP system, and negotiating material and freight costs. Essential Functions: tSource materials and packaging, domestically and internationally, based on quality, cost, and availability. tMonitor supplier approval process and maintain performance records. tReview MRP daily, place orders, generate PO's from the ERP system and confirm PO's. Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels of raw materials, packaging, finished goods, resale and equipment utilizing min/max pull ordering and traditional forecast ordering. tMonitor supplier performance and take necessary actions when performance does not meet expectations. tImplement procedures and policies for department. tWork with our vendors to implement our strategic goals (barcoding, stocking agreements, Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI), blanket PO's). tCoordinates necessary product specification revisions and deviations as needed with suppliers. tMaintain system accuracy, including lead time, pricing, current supplier information, current purchase order data. tConduct searches for new suppliers of goods and services, evaluate their capabilities, assess risk and qualify as necessary. tMinimize the Total Cost of Ownership associated with the purchase of goods and services. tReviews requests for assigned materials, parts, and/or services and verifies specifications with the requester as necessary. tAssists other departments with problem resolution involving discrepancies between purchase orders, delivered quantity, quality, and/or pric tReview and modify demand forecasts for inventory items, purchasing systems, and reporting tools. tIdentify and recommend procedure and process improvements within the department. Qualifications: tLean manufacturing and ISO 9001 experience required. tDetailed and demonstrated knowledge and experience with MRP systems, item attributes, and pull inventory methods. tExtensive knowledge of industrial raw material and electromechanical assemblies. tStrong communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills. tAnalytical and mathematical capabilities to compare prices and quantities and consider vendor contract terms. tAbility to evaluate market conditions and various suppliers. tKeen eye for detail. tEffective relationship-building skills. tBachelor's degree in business, accounting, supply chain management, or a related field. t5+ years of experience in a purchasing role tCertification is preferred, but not required. Physical Requirements: tShift: M-F, tMobility to work in an office and factory setting including the use of standard equipment, including a computer.
