    Description

The AWS Security Assurance Engineering (SAE) team"s mission is to build and enhance mechanisms which continuously demonstrate that AWS meets and exceeds the high security and compliance bar expected by our customers, regulators, and auditors. We achieve this by proactively engaging service and control owners to identify, monitor, and drive remediation of risks across AWS. Our team builds tools and services that scale these capabilities globally - creating efficiencies for our teams while maintaining transparency for our customers.

We are seeking a Sr Business Intelligence Engineer for our Data Engineering and Analytics team to drive high-impact analytics solutions that support the organizational 10x growth strategy. In this role, you will design and deploy scalable data products and measurement frameworks that enable cross-functional stakeholders to make fast, data-driven decisions at scale. This role requires both strategic vision and hands-on technical execution - distilling complex data insights into actionable strategies and communicating them effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives with autonomy and ambiguity - someone who challenges conventional approaches to analytics and proactively seeks to deeply understand the business to advance its objectives. If you thrive in a dynamic environment that offers startup-like autonomy with enterprise impact, we want to hear from you.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Partner cross-functionally to gather requirements and deliver end-to-end analytics solutions - translating ambiguous business questions into structured analytical approaches, data models, and scalable self-service tools
    • Collaborate with Software Development Engineers, Business Intelligence Engineers, Data Engineers, and Data Scientists to transform large, complex datasets into structured, analytics-ready insights that drive business outcomes
    • Design, develop, and deploy production-grade data products - from datasets and pipelines to dashboards and measurement frameworks - enforcing mandatory code reviews, data quality checks, anomaly detection, and monitoring to ensure consistency, reliability, and reusability at scale
    • Drive alignment on metrics definitions, measurement frameworks, taxonomy, and data governance across stakeholders
    • Simplify and automate reporting, enabling stakeholders to self-serve at scale
    • Leverage AI to deliver practical and sophisticated solutions, pushing beyond conventional analytics approaches
    • Mentor and develop junior team members - establishing and driving best analytics practices across the team
    • Communicate results, insights, and recommendations across all levels of the organization - from engineering teams to senior leadership - distilling complex findings into clear, actionable narratives tailored to each audience

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
