JOB SUMMARY Prepare, arrange, operate, maintain, and repair equipment such as microphones, video recorders, projectors, lighting, and sound equipment. Conducts routine and special services and installation on a variety of audio visual equipment, software applications and systems. Assist with media layouts and presentation for corporate meetings and training programs. Responsible for the safe operation of equipment and proper work methods that are related to the safety of subordinates, fellow workers, and the general public. JOB DUTIES Career level position that applies advanced and specialized expertise of an administrative or technical nature. Has substantial understanding of the job and applies knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of tasks. Works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues and/or in making recommendations. Receives little instruction on daily work and general instructions on newly introduced and/or more complex assignments. Typically acts as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience. May assign tasks and provide guidance to lower level colleagues. ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES Installs, maintains, inspects and operates audio visual product and components as specified by blueprints, manuals and specifications Works with vendors and data center technicians on A/V drawings and rack wiring designs Identifies and resolves equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate action to obtain repair Receives and prioritizes requests for audiovisual (AV) equipment in company conference rooms and training centers; Maintains and troubleshoots corporate printers and copiers Provides advice and suggestions to staff regarding the preparation and use of AV materials for meetings and conferences Assembles, sets up, transports tests A/V equipment in a safe, secure manager for corporate events and meetings, then disassembles equipment as needed May operate equipment or hands control over to designated employees for conducting and recording meetings and presentations with appropriate equipment Edits, copies, and stores recordings of events Provides technical support for teleconferences, webinars, and distance-learning classes. Tracks inventory of equipment and orders necessary supplies Facilitates needed equipment repairs, which may include shipment of malfunctioning equipment to outside supplier and rental of temporary replacement equipment Participates in orientation meetings as needed to explain department functions and the materials and equipment available Performs other related duties as assigned EXPERIENCE Senior level: 5+ years of job-related work experience in excess of degree requirements. Level II & III: 2+ years of job-related work experience in excess of degree requirements. Level I: 0+ years of job-related work experience in excess of degree requirements. Experience in the operation of general audio/video electronics and communication systems including video panels/walls, speakers, racking, microphones, A/V cabling and wiring. Ability to lift 50 pounds EDUCATION High School Diploma or GED (Required). Combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required. Eligible candidates should be enrolled in an academic bachelors or post graduate degree program maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The ERCOT Engineer Development Program (EDP) is a 12- to 16-month, self-paced program geared toward entry-level engineers looking to start a career in the power industry. Through the program, an EDP Engineer receives one-on-one mentoring, specialized training, and exposure to the work performed by each of the engineering groups at ERCOT. The program allows engineers to develop the fundamental skills necessary to reach their full potential while gaining an understanding of the types of engineering work ERCOT has to offer. EDP management supports participants each step of the way as they progress through the program. Upon completion, graduates are placed as full-time engineers within one of ERCOT’s engineering groups. The GMS Development Program (GDP) is designed to provide entry-level and early career professionals with the skills necessary to become successful Power System and Computer Engineers. The program, which is based in ERCOT’s Grid and Market Solutions (GMS) Department, will provide experience in day-to-day work and instruction in the fundamentals of electric power systems engineering, grid and market applications, software programming, and IT service and operations management. The GDP offers one-on-one mentoring, training, field trips, and special assignments. These assignments allow GDP engineers to become knowledgeable and familiar with the various business areas at ERCOT. The GMS leadership team prepares GDP engineers for a future career at ERCOT in power systems and computer engineering. The System Operator Development Program (ODP) is intended to combine real-time daily operations in an exciting work setting to prepare participants with the vital skills necessary to be successful in such a critical position — providing 24x7x365 on-demand support to manage the flow of electric power to more than 26 million Texas customers. If you are new to the industry, this program introduces you to the Bulk Electric System by combining introductory courses with the NERC Certification Exam Preparation Program in preparation to pass the NERC Certification Exam.
