KORE1, a nationwide provider of staffing and recruiting solutions, has an immediate opening for a Sr Architect - Back End, based in Denver, Co. The role is Hybrid with 3 days onsite each week.
About the Role
We're hiring a Senior Architect who owns architectural problems end-to-end and shapes how the engineering org builds, from system design and API contracts through implementation, reliability, and the patterns that make the next integration cheaper. You already use AI as part of how you think, design, build, and ship.
You'll design the systems that move money in production, set the API and integration patterns the engineering org adopts, and stay hands-on where it matters most. The work spans the ledger and balances data model, settlement and reconciliation, treasury operations, and the back-office systems that run money movement behind the customer-facing product. You set architecture direction across the engineering org, lead cross-cutting decisions, and mentor mid-level architects and team leads.
What You'll Do
- Own the architecture for back-office and money-movement core: the ledger and balances data model, settlement and reconciliation, treasury operations, and how new capability plugs into the systems of record.
- Stay hands-on: lead prototyping of patterns that engineers adopt, write code in the hardest parts of new architecture, and lead architecture reviews across squads.
- Set architecture standards across the engineering org: API design, observability, security, and integration patterns that reduce the cost of the next integration.
- Lead cross-cutting architecture decisions, mentor mid-level architects and team leads, and grow the architecture practice across the engineering org.
- Lead how the engineering org adopts AI in architecture work: use agentic coding tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent) daily across the SDLC, and shape AI use across design, code, testing, and documentation.
Must-have
- 7 to 10+ years building production software systems end-to-end, with at least 3 years in architecture-leaning work such as system design, platform engineering, or technical leadership.
- Track record designing and setting system architecture across multiple teams or the engineering org, including leading architecture reviews and mentoring architects and team leads.
- Strong backend proficiency in C# / .NET, our core enterprise stack, with hands-on coding still part of daily work; comfortable building on it long-term, with experience in other modern backend languages (Java, Kotlin, Go, or equivalent) transferring well.
- Solid CS fundamentals: object-oriented design, domain-driven design, data structures, and pragmatic system design.
- Deep understanding of service-oriented or microservices architecture, REST API design, and event-driven patterns.
- Strong SQL and relational database fundamentals, with familiarity with NoSQL where it fits.
- Production experience with AWS, including CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or equivalent).
- Payments, FX, or regulated-industry experience.
- Daily use of agentic coding tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent) across the SDLC, with a clear point of view on how AI fits into architecture work.
- Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain architectural tradeoffs to engineering, product, and business audiences.
Nice-to-have
- Experience with ledgers, double-entry, or other financial-data systems.
- Experience with settlement, reconciliation, or treasury systems.
- Familiarity with TOGAF, SAFe, or other architectural frameworks.
- Experience hiring, interviewing, or onboarding engineers and architects.
- Experience leading large-scale platform migrations or architecture transitions.
