Sr Systems Engineer- Los Angeles CA - JAN 2026 - 1909
Our client in California specializing in major modification programs for transport-category aircraft is seeking a Sr Systems Engineer/Director of Systems. This role is ideal for an engineer with broad experience in aircraft modification and certification programs, particularly those involving Aircraft systems integration.
The position will begin as a short-term contract to assess mutual fit. Upon successful completion, a full-time offer may be extended
Ideal Candidate would have the following experience
Aircraft systems integration involving hydraulics, pneumatics, and environmental control systems (ECS)
Working knowledge of electrical system integration, including wiring, harness routing, and installation considerations
Oversight of system installation, routing, wiring, and integration with aircraft structure
Review of system schematics, block diagrams, and interface definitions
Definition of system architecture and subsystem interfaces
Understanding of certification compliance for aircraft systems under FAA and/or EASA regulations
Collaboration with DERs, CVEs, and certification authorities on system-level substantiation, testing, and compliance documentation
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and coordinate engineering activities for aircraft modification programs, including design, analysis, certification ie.STC, and parts procurement.
Provide technical oversight for both mechanical and electrical system integration, ensuring compliance with FAA/EASA certification requirements.
Interface with internal engineering teams, DERs, suppliers, and certification authorities.
Support project scheduling, resource planning, and risk assessment for ongoing and upcoming programs.
Contribute to design reviews, drawing releases, and stress and system verification documentation.
Oversee integration between structural modifications and aircraft systems (hydraulic, pneumatic, ECS, electrical routing, etc.).
Design, analysis, and certification support for large-scale modification programs, including fuselage cutouts, floor structures, cargo door installations, and systems rerouting.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (Master's preferred)
10+ years of relevant experience supporting transport-category aircraft modification or certification programs
Experience leading or coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering efforts
Strong understanding of aircraft mechanical systems, structures, and system-to-structure integration
Familiarity with electrical systems and certification requirements (expert-level electrical experience not required)
Experience with FAA STC processes and working with DERs, CVEs, or ODA organizations preferred
Strong communication, problem-solving, and technical leadership skills
