Senior Accountant

Location: Annapolis, MD

Schedule: Full-Time, 100% Onsite

Compensation: $90,000 - $120,000 + Benefits

About the Opportunity

A growing real estate organization in Annapolis is seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to join its accounting team. This is a hands-on role responsible for managing full-cycle accounting functions across multiple entities and supporting the company's continued growth. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting fundamentals, experience managing month-end close processes, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle accounting activities, including general ledger maintenance and account reconciliations.
  • Process and oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
  • Administer payroll and ensure timely and accurate processing.
  • Prepare and post journal entries and accruals.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and management reports.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
  • Support external auditors, tax preparers, and other financial service providers.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of full-cycle accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close procedures.
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and reconciliations.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare accurate reports.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Real estate accounting experience is a plus.
  • Experience working with multiple entities or property portfolios preferred.
  • CPA designation or CPA-track status is a plus.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting software systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
