You will be responsible for coordinating and implementing the pre-award budgeting and proposal submission process for faculty across the college, including interpretation and communication of research announcement requirements, budget development, preparation of internal and external proposal forms, and use of electronic proposal submission modules. The incumbent will have daily interaction with faculty, staff and researchers, federal and non-federal sponsors, finance and research representatives from subcontracting institutions, the University's Office of Sponsored Programs, Office of Research Integrity and Compliance, as well as finance and research administration counterparts campus-wide.Responsibilities:Conducts the research proposal process.Advising faculty on proposal requirements and deadline planning. Developing proposal budgets. Preparing government and sponsor forms and contributing administrative content to applicationsProvides faculty members with various options and scenarios that can be used in a proposal''s planning or during the execution of the workCompiles and/or proofreads non-technical components of proposal packages, such as investigator qualifications, current and pending support, budget justifications, and similar; ideally is capable of writing drafts of these non-technical components of proposalsMaintains data in the university's proposal systemParticipates in selected university, college, and department meetingsValues working as member of a larger team, embodying a flexible, collaborative approach to assignments and expectations as needs changeYou must demonstrate:Willingness and ability to understand and interpret university and government policies and proceduresExcellent oral, written, and verbal communication skillsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsProven expertise in ExcelExtreme attention to detail in a fast-paced academic environmentAbility to work well independently, but also to seek assistance when neededExcellent time management and organizational skillsQualifications:Bachelor's Degree in relevant fieldResearch Administration Experience or CRA certification a plusA combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be consideredRequirements:Successful background checkJoining the CMU team opens the door to an array of exceptional benefits.Benefits eligible employees enjoy a wide array of benefits including comprehensive medical, prescription, dental, and vision insurance as well as a generous retirement savings program with employer contributions.
