Position: Sr. Collections Specialist (SPOC – Loss Mitigation)

Location: 100% Onsite - Jacksonville, FL
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM EST
Employment Type: Contract (Potential Extension/Conversion)
Start Date: Targeting 6/15/2026 (TBD)
Pay Rate: $27.00/HR, Paid Weekly

 

Credit/Background Requirement: This position requires a credit/background screening prior to submission and hire consideration. Candidates must be able to successfully pass the required credit/background screening. The screening will review financial responsibility criteria, including recent foreclosures, bankruptcies, judgments/liens, and delinquent or charged-off accounts that exceed client guidelines.

 

Position Overview:

The Sr. Collections Specialist, also known as a Single Point of Contact (SPOC), is responsible for managing complex collections and loss mitigation activities. This role serves as the primary liaison for borrowers, guiding them through delinquency resolution and evaluating home retention or liquidation options.

The ideal candidate is highly analytical, customer-focused, and experienced in navigating sensitive financial situations while ensuring compliance with investor and regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for borrowers regarding collections and loss mitigation inquiries.
  • Conduct inbound and outbound calls to resolve delinquent accounts.
  • Analyze borrower financials to determine eligibility for retention options (e.g., forbearance, loan modifications) or liquidation solutions (e.g., short sale, deed in lieu).
  • Negotiate payment arrangements and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed documentation of all customer interactions and account activity.
  • Resolve complex account issues, escalations, and disputes with professionalism.
  • Ensure compliance with investor guidelines, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with internal teams to support account resolution and process efficiency.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in collections, loss mitigation, or mortgage servicing.
  • Strong knowledge of investor guidelines (FHA, VA, FNMA, FHLMC).
  • Understanding of Fair Debt Collection Practices, U.S. Bankruptcy Code, and related regulations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and active listening skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to interpret complex financial and legal documents.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some college coursework preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • May on occasion be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels, such as from office equipment.
  • The ability to lift up to 30lbs.
  • Use of computers and technology.
