A community services organization in New York City is looking to add a licensed Physical Therapist to join their team at one of their schools in Pelham. In this role, the Physical Therapist (PT) will be responsible for assessing students' motor skills and developing & implementing goals designed to enhance the students' learning potential.

About the Opportunity:

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Assignment Length: Ongoing
  • Hours: 8am to 2:30pm
  • Setting: School-based
  • Patient Population: Pediatric IDD (Age 3-5)

Responsibilities:

  • Make observations during preliminary screening of new students, and/or ongoing evaluations of students enrolled in the school

  • Make suggestions for approaches and activities that might enhance the student's ability to participate
  • Demonstrate approaches and activities to be implemented by educational staff that will improve children's abilities to participate in the classroom
  • Help the staff identify children's specific sensory and motor skill levels, including posture, gait, stair climbing and negotiation of the school environment.
  • Individual and group-related service provision and documentation.
  • Develop a series of developmentally-graded activities based on evaluation
  • Maintain mandated documentation of treatment and progress
  • Submit a written report of the progress of the children at the end of each school year
  • Make recommendations for IEP goals and participate as required in IEP conferences

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Physical Therapy (New grads welcome!)
  • NYS Professional PT License
  • Solid assessment, clinical, and documentation skills
  • Patient oriented
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized
