Core Duties and Responsibilities:

Structure the classroom to establish and maintain an effective learning environment for students with complex language, learning, and cognitive disabilities per student IEPs

Participate in the Team meeting process

Develop, implement, and monitor progress of IEP goals and objectives to ensure compliance

Develop appropriate instructional materials, activities, & lesson plans taking into consideration cognitive levels and age- appropriateness of students

Establish clear learning targets for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those learning targets to students

Promote a supportive learning and teaching environment that supports the social/emotional well-being of students

Plan and coordinate with specialists, related service providers, and other staff members to deliver comprehensive programming for students

Communicate regularly with parents

Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations

Assist in collection of data for providing appropriate interventions and recommendations

Maintain professional competence by participating in staff development activities, curriculum development meetings, and other professional opportunities

Perform related duties as required by the building Principal and the Special Education Zone Director

Will to improve practice by taking and implementing frequent feedback

Humility and a good sense of humor

Qualifications:

A Bachelors degree is required; a Masters degree is preferred

Appropriate Massachusetts DESE licensure required-this includes a passing score on the Communication and Literacy - Skills test and a passing score on the relevant subject matter knowledge test(s).

Teachers should hold an SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) endorsement.

A minimum of two years teaching experience in a school setting serving a similar demographic preferred, but not required.

Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
